Larry Beckman grew up in Ida Grove and Westside, Iowa,
graduating from AR-WE-VA High School in 1957. He and his wife, Bev,
first came to Odebolt when they bought the local Chrysler franchise from
Marvin Friday in 1968. The Beckmans added a Ford franchise in 1979
and moved their business to the building at 116 East Second Street, which
now houses the Odebolt Community Center. This building
served the business until 1999-2000 when a new structure was built on the
east edge of Odebolt along highway 175.
Larry Beckman Motors, Inc., sells new and pre-owned
vehicles and
features Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ford. The dealership
employs 14 people and offers a highly trained, award-winning service
department.
For recreation, Larry enjoys hunting, fishing, golf, and
working in his yard. Larry and Bev's family consists of 2 daughters,
Vicki Beckman and Kim Veit, seven grandchildren, and 4
great-grandchildren.
