Odebolt Coaster Car Rules

1. Cars will not be powered by any source.

2. Cars must start from a stand still without a push.

3. Cars must be equipped with some sort of steering. The course will run straight, but the driver must be able to correct his/her course in order to stay in his/her own lane.

4. Cars must be equipped with a braking system.

5. Cars will be equipped with 12-inch diameter wheels or less, except in the bicycle tire class.

6. Cars will have an enclosed section in front of the driver from the steering wheel to the front of the car. This enclosure is to provide protection for the driver in case of an accident. The enclosure will not have any sharp edges which may cause harm to the driver.

7. Cars must have a seat

8. Four age groups will determine the classes.
Class 1. Ages 8,9 and 10
Class 2. Ages 11,12 and 13
Class 3. Ages 14,15,and 16
Class 4. Aged 17 thru adult

9. All drivers must have proof of age.

10. Drivers under 18 years old must have written parental consent.

11. Races will be run against the clock.

12. Cars must stay in their own lane. Any car or driver that intentionally bumps or in any way hinders the performance of another car or driver will be disqualified.

13. Driver must wear a helmet at all times while in the car.

14. A car may be used by more than one driver with the car owner’s consent.15. All cars will have only one driver at a time. No passengers allowed.

16. Cars will be inspected by the judges at the start of the race. The judges reserve the right to disqualify any car that does not pass the established guidelines or is deemed unsafe.

17. There will be a $10 early entry fee. The entry fee will be raised to $15 the day of the
race.

18. The prize money will depend upon the number of entries.

Special bicycle tire rules:
1. All the rules above apply unless otherwise noted.

2. Cars must have four tires, one in each corner.

3. Tires must not be larger than a 24” bicycle tire.

4. Car seat must not be more than 6” above the center of the wheel axle.

5. Cars must have a minimum of 24” between the tires.  (Changed from 32" on June 1, 2004)

6. Two age groups will make up this class
Class 1. Ages 8 through 15
Class 2. Ages 15 to adult.
