CITY OF ODEBOLT NOTICES
 

 

OFFICIAL NOTICE

Property owners are reminded that ALL properties (including vacant lots with empty buildings) are to be kept mowed. Code of Iowa 657.2(12).
If the City finds it necessary to mow, the owner will be billed accordingly. City Codes 56.06 & 56.07.

NOTICE TO PROPERTY OWNERS
Blowing cut grass into the street is prohibited. Depositing twigs, branches or other debris onto City streets is prohibited. (Littering section 105.06 of the City Code.)

This debris causes drain sewers to become plugged and further causes street flooding during heavy rainfall. If citizens do not cooperate, citations may be issued.

TREE TRIMMING NOTICE

142.04 DUTY TO TRIM TREES    The owner or agent of the abutting property shall keep the trees on, or overhanging the street, trimmed so that all branches will be at least sixteen (16) feet above the surface of the street and eight (8) feet above the sidewalks. (Code of Iowa, Sec. 364.12 [2c]

142.05 PENALTY AND ASSESSMENT   If the abutting property owner fails to trim the trees as required in this chapter, the City may serve notice on the abutting property owner requiring that such action be taken within five (5) days.  If such action is not taken within that time, the same shall constitute a municipal infraction and the City may proceed as provided in chapter 8 to collect civil penalties or secure injunctive relief, or the City may perform the required action and assess the costs against the abutting property for collection in the same manner as a property tax. (Code of Iowa, Sec. 364.12 [2d & e]

GARBAGE REGULATIONS

Ordinance #07.07 - Each household will be allowed two (2) thirty-three (33) gallon trash bags of solid waste per week, not to exceed 66 gallons per week.  Each bag or container must not exceed forty (40) pounds in weight. Any additional waste over the 66 gallons (2-33) must have a city-approved tag/sticker securely affixed to each bag or container. The haulers will not pick up any bag or can exceeding the 2-33 gallon per household limit without the proper tag/sticker.

The tag/sticker must be obtained from the City Clerk’s office prior to trash collection day and will cost one dollar ($1.00) per tag/sticker in lots of 10 ($10.00).

ODEBOLT SNOW ORDINANCE

185.03 REMOVAL OF SNOW, ICE AND ACCUMULATIONS: It is the responsibility of the abutting property owners to remove snow, ice and accumulations promptly from the entire width of all of said sidewalks. If a property owner does not remove snow, ice or accumulations within twenty-four hours, the City may do so and assess the costs against the property owner for collection in the same manner as a property tax.

ODEBOLT SNOW ORDINANCE

69.10 SNOW REMOVAL:  No person shall park, abandon, or leave unattended any vehicle on a public street, alley or city-owned off-street parking area of any day during the periods of November 1 to April 1 when weather conditions consist of snow, sleet, ice and/or freezing rain.
