The Mayor Sez ...
If our 100 day fog believers are right, we should be getting much needed rain (or snow) in about 3 or 4 weeks. I think I have that right.  (If not, let me know.)
I would like to parrot Mayor Ed from Wall Lake on his comments about mis-use of the city dump.  He says, "the dump is to be used for trees, limbs, leaves, lawn clippings and garden waste.  Nothing else!  The same goes for the Odebolt city dump and violators will be prosecuted.  Enough said!
A big thanks to Steve and Kris Gunderson for their longevity and dedication as EMT's to our Odebolt Ambulance service.  We salute!
I bought a can of Burma Shave cream the other day which reminded me of some of their road safety signs back in the 40's and 50's.  One went as follows: Car in ditch - driver in tree - the moon was full - and so was he.

Always wear your safety belt.
Check the depth of water and check for objects below the surface before you jump or dive.
Drive chemically free.
Always wear a helmet when rollerblading, riding a motorcycle, snowmobile, skateboard, ATV, bicycle, or when involved in contact sports.

The Mayor Sez ...

We were delighted to have our Webmasters Barb & Bonnie visit our February Council Meeting. They said, "For lack of anything else to do we decided to see what's going on down at City Hall." Our photographer, Chuck Hanson, snapped our picture so you just may get to see the present City   Administration on our web page. For the record, I think it was Bonnie that called my attention, awhile back, to an article in the 1901 Chronicle about serious dog problems. Bonnie, guess what, 105 years later nothing has changed and you were there to hear it all!

The kind people that have been feeding our downtown alley cats tell me that some kids have stoned some of them to death or have caused them severe injury. Also I am told that some may have been poisoned. The matter is being investigated.
I have also been told that some kids have been trying to gain unlawful entrance to some of our downtown buildings via the alley entrances. Anyone that may have seen these vagrants or know who they are, please give the police or myself a call.
Someone sent me this recently - "we can't change the wind but we sure can adjust our sails."

The Mayor Sez . . .
On behalf of the City of Odebolt I would personally like to thank Steve Hustedt and the Prudential Financial Volunteer team for the $1000.00 grant to the City of Odebolt for our Museum. For the past decade these volunteers have worked to help address pressing needs of our communities. We salute!
The month of February is upon us. I just read where a record was set for January 2006 being the warmest January on record. This translates to thousands of dollars saved in our budget for snow removal and also on our heating bills. In about seven more weeks we should be out of the woods as far as winter is concerned. (I hope!)  If there are any 'weather guessers' out there making favorable forecasts for February let me know. (If you are forecasting some bad weather don't let me know.)
