City Hall, 205 W 2nd Street

It is my sincere pleasure to welcome you to our Odebolt Web Site.

Odebolt is a small community that lies within the beautiful rolling hills of western Iowa.  Our population is 1,153 and we have seventy some active businesses.  Our tax base is minimal, and our housing is affordable.  We have three thriving banks, a volunteer fire department, a police department, medical facilities including a nursing home, medical clinic, dental clinic and ambulance crew that all provide a necessary part of our infrastructure.  We welcome inquiries by anyone interested in establishing a new business.  We have had four major business additions in recent years.

A very important part of our success must be attributed to our town and country relations.  The surrounding rural population provides an active role in many facets of community participation and leadership.  Odebolt takes pride in the fact that we have remained viable, steadfast and strong.  We have made the commitment to see that our children (our future) have a safe place in which to grow, and our citizens' property and businesses have a vital place to thrive and prosper.

Last, but not least,  I would be remiss if I did not thank our forward and progressive thinking city council for the initial funding of this site.  Also, I would like to thank Barb (Girvan) Horak for the many hours of hard work, valuable expertise and ingenuity in making this site possible.  We also thank Chuck Hanson for providing photographs.

It is my pleasure to serve.
