HISTORY
Odebolt Lumber began in 1882 when S.H. Bowman purchased the land from Blair Town Lot Company and built S.H.
Bowman Lumber Company, about 1886. In 1927 Bowman sold to C.M.
Youmans Lumber Company of Winona, Minnesota, and in 1946 Youmans sold to
Farmers Grain Terminal Association of which Great Plains Supply Company
was a part.
During the "Farm Crisis" of the early 1980's, Great
Plains fell on hard times and closed many of their lumber yards, including
Odebolt.
In 1984 Wall Lake Lumber Company purchased the Odebolt
site and has run a "Full-Service" Lumber Yard there since.
The lumber yard has a proud history and is believed to be
the oldest business operating in Odebolt.
