Walk Across Iowa
Pictured are Daryl Cleveland and his son, Bradly, standing under the US Highway 30 overpass along the banks of the Mississippi River at
Clinton, Iowa on July 4th, 2003. They had just completed a 336 mile walk across Iowa along US 30 from the Missouri River at Blair, Nebraska to the Mississippi
River. The walk took 22 days with the final 61 miles being completed in the last 3 days.
The
Clevelands received a letter from Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack congratulating the duo on their accomplishment. In it Vilsack says, "I am especially
impressed that you have completed this journey together as father and son. The time you spent on your walk across Iowa must have been a great
opportunity to share the experience of working hard toward a common goal."
Daryl states that a future plan is to complete a walk from between the Minnesota border and the Missouri border.
