Former Odebolt resident, Mrs. Thelma
Dresselhuis, celebrated her 105th birthday on November 27, 2007.
A party honoring her was held at Wesley Acres in Des Moines, Iowa
where Thelma has resided for the past few years. Relatives
from around the Des Moines area attended, as well as friends and
many people from Wesley Acres. Herb Turin came down from
Odebolt for the day.
Her daughter Ellen said, "It was a
great party. Many people came to greet her and ate cake. She
enjoyed visiting with folks for an hour and a half or so. As you can
see, she looked (and continues to look) just great! Doesn't look a
day over 80."
Thelma received
many birthday cards from friends in Odebolt, friends at Wesley Acres
(she’s made many) and her family. She enjoyed reading them and very
much enjoys hearing from old friends from “home”.
Thelma is the wife of long-time Odebolt
attorney George Dresselhuis, who passed away in May 2004. She
is the oldest person living at Wesley Acres, and probably Odebolt's
oldest former resident.
