The Quasquicentennial Quilt

Hanging on the north wall of the Field
Carnegie Library meeting room in Odebolt,
the quilt shows photos of Odebolt as it
is today as well as historical photos from the past.
The white squares are embroidered with the names of families
from Odebolt.
The wooden quilt hanger was crafted by Keith Mentzer.
Donarae Cleveland suggested
a quilt be made for the Quasquicentennial Celebration and asked
Beverly Einspahr to head the committee. Bev asked Ruth
Neville, Lois Story, Karen (Johnson) Saemisch and Donna Buehler to
be on the committee. Karen, of Memory Lane Fabrics in Denison,
Iowa, volunteered to furnish all the materials for the quilt.
Daryl Cleveland took all the colored photos for the
quilt except for the center picture, which was taken by Jean (Story)
Wruck. All the black and white photos were taken from various
books and newspapers.
Beverly Einspahr and Karen Saemisch sewed the quilt
together. It was machine-quilted at Memory Lane in Denison.
