COMPANY HISTORY

The agency was founded 1951 by Harry C. Swanson and his son Richard  when they bought the former Selby Insurance Agency.  In 1966 Richard bought out his father's interest in the agency, and ran it until Howard E. Hustedt joined on June 1, of 1969. 
     In January 1972 the agency was incorporated under the name Financial Security Services, Inc., and continues to operate under the name Swanson Insurance and Real Estate.   That same year Howard Hustedt became part owner.
    Al Wilke joined the Agency in 1975 and remains a part owner today.  Mick Menage came on board in 1980 and is president, as well as an owner.  Gordie Boerner joined the group as an agent and part owner in 1996 and is currently with the group.  Richard Duffy joined as agent in 2002.  Other agents include Bobbi Scott, 1999  to present, and Tamra Thureson, 2003 to present.  John Currie will be joining the agency staff specializing in ag insurance.   Although Richard Swanson is now retired, he is often seen at the office.
     Support staff members include Karen Mohlhoff since 1979, Ruth Youngren since 1972, and Judy Hemphill since 2004.

RECENT EXPANSION

Swanson's recently completed an expansion.  The old Lloyd Watts Drug Store to the south of the Swanson offices was remodeled to accommodate the growth of staff and business.  This doubled the available space and includes a large conference room with five offices.  The original tin ceiling in the building was left intact.

Swanson Insurance and Real Estate Experiences Growth-- In 2007, Swanson Insurance and Real Estate had a tremendous growth in their personnel with the addition of 5 new employees. Tammy Hustedt, Kristy Dewey, Terri Bauder, Katie DeJean and Bryce Hustedt have joined the team.  Swanson Insurance and Real Estate currently has fourteen employees to better serve the insurance and real estate needs of their clients.
